The College of General Dentistry and GC, in association with The Tom Bereznicki Charitable Educational Foundation, have launched a new competition for Foundation Dentists and Vocational Trainees.
The inaugural CGDent and GC Award for Foundation Dentists is open to all 2023/24 Foundation Dentists and Vocational Trainees in the UK. This is your opportunity to gain recognition for your aesthetic dentistry skills, and for the high standard of care you have provided to your patient.
Eligible entrants will receive a free GC composite kit worth around £250, while stocks last.
Judges will then select up to 14 winners, who will each receive a fully-funded place on a composite layering course held over two days at GC’s Education Campus in Leuven, Belgium, which takes place on Thursday 11 & Friday 12 July 2024. The costs of international travel, hotel accommodation, meals and subsistence will be covered by the prize*.
How to enter
Entrants must submit an aesthetic case that they have treated during Foundation/Vocational Training. The case must involve more than one tooth, including at least one anterior tooth, and include the use of composite to restore teeth.

Up to 14 winners will be selected. The panel of judges comprises the Trustees of The Tom Bereznicki Charitable Educational Foundation and suitably qualified members of the College, and represent the College of General Dentistry and GC UK.
The winners will be announced by early June 2024 and they will be invited to attend the College’s Summer Fellows’ Reception in London to receive their award certificate.

Composite layering course
The award winners will each receive a fully-funded place on a composite layering course which takes place over two days at GC’s Education Campus in Leuven, Belgium. Travel costs, hotel accommodation, meals and subsistence are included in the prize.
The course will be carefully tailored to meet the experience and skills of the participants. Delivered through a combination of lectures, demos and hands-on sessions, the provisional course itinerary covers:
- Using a detailed layering technique with only inside and outside shades in a Class IV
- Dealing with the challenging situation of masking a strong discoloration with a direct veneer
- Injection Moulding Technique (IMT) – principles, indications and clinical guideline
- Treating posterior and anterior tooth wear with IMT
- Extending the limits of a direct Cl II restoration with a fibre reinforced and a high-filled injectable composite
