Cookie policy

We use cookies on our websites to manage the operation and performance of our website.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small data text file that is placed on your computer (the hard drive or your browser) when you visit a website. Cookies help to make websites work efficiently and provide us with information about how our website is used.

How can I control or delete cookies?

Most web browsers allow some control of most cookies through the browser settings. To find out more about cookies, including how to see what cookies have been set and how you can manage or delete them, visit www.allaboutcookies.org.

You can opt out of being tracked by Google Analytics across all websites by visiting https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

You should note that if you do not accept the cookies or subsequently choose to disable cookies, you may not be able to access all the services on our site. We also note that one of the cookies we use is essential for parts of the site to operate and has already been set.

Why does this site use cookies?

When you visit this website we use cookies to enable us to collect standard internet log information and visit behavioural patterns. Cookies automatically identify your browser whenever you interact with our site. This helps us to make our site more responsive to your needs and to track and manage information relevant to your specific interests. In this way we can tailor our site to you, deliver a better and more personalised service and track the pages on our site that you are interested in.

What cookies do we use?
  1. Strictly necessary cookies: These are cookies that are required for the operation of our website. They include, for example, cookies that enable you to log into secure areas of our website.
  2. Analytical/performance cookies: These are cookies which allow us to recognise and count the number of visitors and to see how visitors move around our website when they are using it. This helps us to improve the way our website works, for example, by ensuring that users are finding what they are looking for easily.
  3. Functionality cookies: These are used to recognise you when you return to our website. This enables us to personalise our content for you, greet you by name and remember any preferences you may have set.
  4. Advertising or tracking: We promote ourselves on third-party sites and use cookies to let you know about what we think you’ll be interested in, based on your previous visits to our site. The cookies help us understand how effectively we’re doing this and limit the number of times you see our promotions. We also include links to social networks such as Facebook, and if you interact with this content, the social networks may use information about your interactions to target advertising to you on their websites.

Third Parties

While we take all reasonable precautions to make sure that other organisations who we deal with have good security practices, we are not responsible for the privacy practices of other organisations whose websites may be linked to our service, or whose contact details we may provide on our website.

We are also not responsible for the privacy practices of social media providers with whom the College has pages or accounts.

We use a number of third party services to provide us with information on the use of our website, associated external resources and to provide you with relevant advertising. These services fall into two distinct groups: web analytics and advertising. Web analytics cookies collect aggregate data about how visitors arrive at and use our site and our content hosted on other sites. The College does not currently have advertising on its website. If this were to change, this policy would be updated to give you information on additional cookies being used.
