Friday 4 October 2024, 1.15pm-2.00pm, London

Enhanced CPD Theatre, Hall N9, ExCeL London, Royal Victoria Dock, 1 Western Gateway, London E16 1XL

This lecture focussed on the second edition of the Guidance Notes for Dental Practitioners on the Safe Use of X-Ray Equipment, which was developed by Public Health England (now the UK Health Security Agency, UKHSA), is published by the College of General Dentistry and sets standards for dental practice in line with the Ionising Radiation Regulations 2017 (IRR17) and Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2017 (IRMER17).

The lecture was delivered by the publication’s editor, Andrew Gulson, who is Principal Radiation Protection Specialist and Dental X-ray Protection Services Technical Manager at UKHSA. A specialist radiation protection scientist and certified radiation protection adviser (RPA), he has worked for Public Health England/UKHSA for 35 years and was instrumental in the development of national guidance on the radiation safety aspects of dental cone-beam CT and hand-held dental X-ray equipment.

This lecture was free to attend for both members and non-members of the College, and is one of four College sessions at Dentistry Show London 2024, a two-day conference hosting over 100 CPD lectures, 180 exhibitors and 4,000 dental professionals.
