Bring your own camera to this small, practical study day, which provides an introduction to rubber dam isolation and everyday clinical photography. Speaker Dr Ajay Dhunna will introduce principles, techniques and discuss the clinical relevance of rubber dam isolation and clinical photography. This session will allow clinicians to improve their confidence in integrating these tools into daily dental practice for enhanced treatment outcomes, documentation, and communication. Spaces are limited, so book early.
Aims:

Objectives:
- Understand the benefits and indications for using rubber dam in general dental practice.
- Identify the components of rubber dam kits and explain their appropriate clinical use.
- Demonstrate knowledge of basic placement techniques, including tips for common clinical scenarios (posterior, anterior, and quadrant isolation).
- Recognise common challenges and how to overcome them during rubber dam placement.
- Appreciate the role of clinical photography in patient records, consent, education, and treatment planning.
- Understand basic camera equipment (DSLR vs smartphone), settings, and accessories needed for dental photography.
- Gain a step-by-step approach to capturing consistent, high-quality intraoral and extraoral photographs.
- Apply clinical tips for achieving efficient workflows in documentation and integrating both techniques into routine practice

Dr Ajay Dhunna is a dedicated general dental practitioner with a strong passion for postgraduate education and clinical excellence. He has undertaken extensive further training in restorative and aesthetic dentistry, alongside orthodontics, with a clear focus on delivering high-quality, minimally invasive care.
Ajay has a particular interest in clinical photography, rubber dam isolation, and adhesive workflows—skills he believes are fundamental to predictable and ethical dentistry. He combines a deep understanding of practical technique with a growing portfolio of complex restorative and aesthetic cases, all meticulously documented.
In addition to his clinical work, Ajay is committed to education. He regularly teaches fellow dentists through study clubs, courses, and mentoring programmes, helping them build confidence and consistency in their clinical workflows.
