Associate Member
All qualified dental professionals
You must be either:
- a dental or oral health practitioner registered with the GDC or an equivalent overseas authority, or
- a non-registrant who is qualified to practice, or former registrant, such as an academic or retired practitioner
Full Member: MCGDent
At postgraduate level
You will need:
- a qualifying Postgraduate Certificate in a relevant subject‡, or
- MJDF/MFDS/MFGDP(UK), or
- Diploma in General Dental Practice (DGDP)

Fellowship is the College’s ultimate mark of professional commitment in dentistry, and celebrates achievement across the different dimensions of your career. Our Fellows are deeply committed to the community of professional practice, serving patients and public.

We also offer College Fellowship by equivalence, if you hold a Fellowship in dentistry of another College that we recognise for this purpose.
If membership is not right for you at this moment, you can register as a College Subscriber (free), and get access to the College’s authoritative guidance and updates on our work.
To join online, you will need to have ready:
- Photos or scans of the required registration and/or award certificate(s). You don’t need to upload evidence of GDC registration.
- Bank details to set up your payment arrangements

Which qualifications are recognised for membership?
Associate Membership is open to all regulated clinical roles in the oral health team, regardless of current practice.
Postgraduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma refer to university-awarded or other qualifications accredited through OfQual and assessed against the Framework for Level 7 Higher Education Qualifications in England, Wales and Northern Ireland (equivalent to Level 11 in Scotland).
Masters are regulated university qualifications in the UK, and we also recognise European Masters from institutions that are recognised through the Bologna Process.
A Postgraduate Certificate must equate at least to 60 credits in the Framework, a Postgraduate Diploma to 120 credits, and a Masters to 180 credits (or an international equivalent).
