Become an Associate Fellow

Associate Fellowship of the College recognises your enhanced knowledge and skills, and demonstrates your commitment to lifelong learning and the highest levels of patient care. As an Associate Fellow, you join the College as a senior member, advancing your journey towards Fellowship, and you will have the opportunity for ceremonial admission by the College President at one of our prestigious Fellows’ Receptions.

Your professional standing is recognised with the use of the postnominals AssocFCGDent.

Criteria for Associate Fellowship

Associate Fellowship is for you if you meet the criteria for Associate Membership AND you hold an eligible Postgraduate Diploma or Masters level qualification in a relevant subject.

These qualifications are recognised for Associate Fellowship:

  • CGDent Diploma in Primary Care Orthodontics
  • Diploma in Postgraduate Dental Studies
  • FGDP(UK) Diploma in Implant Dentistry
  • FGDP(UK) Diploma in Primary Care Oral Surgery
  • FGDP(UK) Diploma in Restorative Dentistry
  • Master’s in Clinical Dentistry
  • Master’s level qualification(s) in a relevant subject, which meets our eligibility criteria
  • Membership in General Dental Surgery
  • PhD in a relevant subject
  • Postgraduate Diploma(s) in a relevant subject, which meets our eligibility criteria
  • RCS(Ed) Diploma in Implant Dentistry
  • Specialty Membership of a Royal College or Royal College faculty

‘Relevant subject’ means either a dental subject or a subject of wider relevance to the enhancement of oral healthcare; this is interpreted at the discretion of the College Council, and the College reserves the right to determine applications on a case-by-case basis.

To confirm your eligibility for membership, we may require evidence of your award transcript, not just your award certificate.

Membership fee
