In this webinar hosted by the College and Office of Chief Dental Officer England (OCDO), we explore the importance of non-communicable diseases in an ageing population and focus on Type 2 diabetes.
The webinar addresses the burden of diabetes and its relationship with periodontitis, explaining visually the intimate link between the two diseases and how periodontal therapy can improve diabetes outcomes. The drive from medical organisations for engagement of oral healthcare professionals in helping them manage the diabetes epidemic will be discussed and data shared from primary care dental practices who are engaging in early case detection for diabetes, in line with the 2019 commissioning standard spearheaded by the OCDO.
